Overview
The Client is seeking an experienced Tableau Specialist to support the transition from SAP Business Objects to Tableau, enhance the visualization quality of legacy reports, and provide hands-on assistance to report developers new to Tableau. This role is essential in modernizing clients reporting infrastructure, ensuring data clarity, and building internal Tableau capacity.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the Transition from SAP Business Objects to Tableau: Facilitate the migration of reports from SAP Business Objects to Tableau, ensuring data accuracy and report functionality.Enhance Report Visualization: Redesign existing reports to improve visual quality and user experience and interactivity using Tableau best practices and modern data visualization principles.Support Report Developers: Provide hands-on guidance, mentoring, and troubleshooting support to internal report developers who are new to Tableau, fostering skill development of the platform.Collaborate with Data and Business Teams: Work closely with systems analysts, business units, and IT to gather requirements, understand data sources, and ensure that visualizations meet user needs and organizational standards.Promote Data Visualization Standards: Establish consistent design standards and governance policies for Tableau dashboards to ensure usability, scalability, and maintainability.Monitor and Optimize Performance: Review and optimize Tableau dashboards and data sources for performance and efficiency, addressing data load times, user access, and system responsiveness.Document Processes and Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation for report migration processes, Tableau development guidelines, and user training resources.Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing Tableau dashboards and reports, with a strong portfolio of interactive and dynamic visualizations.Hands-on experience with SAP Business Objects, including understanding of WebI (Web Intelligence) reports and universes.Proficient in translating complex datasets and business logic into actionable Tableau dashboards.Solid SQL skills and understanding of relational databases.Experience working with cross-functional teams in data analytics, reporting, and IT.Strong communication skills, especially when explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.Experience supporting a reporting platform transition (e.g., from Business Objects to Tableau or similar tools).Knowledge of public sector reporting or social services data (e.g., Medi-Cal, CalWORKs) is a plus.Tools
