Essential Job Functions
  • Help customers discover new items and answer inquiries.
  • Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates.
  • Provide customers with fresh and non‑perishable grocery products upon request.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions.
  • Create an environment that feels welcoming, important, and appreciated for all customers.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
