- Transports camp participants to and from camp site to various local sites.
- Coordinates the camp bus pick-up and delivery schedule.
- Maintains discipline and safety standards for all passengers on the camp bus.
- Reports any necessary repairs and schedules service for the repair.
- Will assist with the daily operations of camp.
- Assists staff in the supervision of children during swimming and field trips.
- Performs routine maintenance and custodial work, as necessary, on the camp bus.
- Keeps necessary mileage records and maintenance reports required for the camp bus.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Our bus drivers are critical to the success of our summer camps. They help create an environment where the kids feel safe, welcome, and belonging. Bus drivers must:
- Drive a 72‑passenger bus.
- Transport campers, address parent concerns, and provide an exciting fun experience for kids.
- Be spontaneous, passionate, excited, and energetic.
- Know the Plano street system and be familiar with bus mechanics and proper maintenance.
- High school graduate.
- Two years’ experience in driving a 48‑passenger or larger bus; one year experience in transporting children.
- Any work‑related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above minimum qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
- CPR and first aid certifications required.
- Texas Class B commercial driver’s license prior to employment.
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check.
Physical Demands and Working ConditionsEmployees work in and around recreational facilities or outdoor sites, perform light physical work and rescue techniques, moderate standing or walking, write daily reports, lift up to 30 pounds, and may be exposed to loud noise and hot temperatures.
