Fitness Manager

Position Purpose

Build a cohesive Personal Training (PT) team, ensure a healthy client pipeline, and provide an exceptional fitness experience for all members.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve monthly sales targets, grow membership, and exceed goals for new PT agreements, client retention, and overall revenue.
  • Collaborate with the membership sales team to support new member onboarding and drive sales initiatives.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff, including Personal Training Managers, Assistant Fitness Managers, and Personal Trainers.
  • Manage payroll for Assistant Fitness Managers and personal trainers to ensure timely and accurate payment.
  • Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to department leaders and staff.
  • Ensure all fitness staff have appropriate certifications and training such as CPR, First Aid, and personal trainer certifications.
  • Provide constructive feedback to staff on performance, highlighting strengths and improvement areas.
  • Address member concerns or complaints, manage membership inquiries, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Engage with members in a friendly and approachable manner, actively listening to needs and concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining proper certifications and safety protocols.
  • Supervise maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
  • Communicate calmly and clearly with staff and members during emergencies or unexpected disruptions, providing necessary instructions and updates for safety and well‑being.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of management experience; fitness/personal training management is a plus.
  • 3–4 years of customer service experience.
  • Personal Training sales experience highly preferred.
  • Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with people at all levels.
  • Detail orientation; systematic problem solving; strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.

Requirements
  • Successfully pass a background check.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid PT certification.
  • Previous sales experience required.
  • Capacity to work in a gym setting, move around club floors and rooms, and communicate with employees, members, and the public.
  • Ability to operate the company computer system for data entry, document preparation, and report review.
  • Ability to bend routinely and repeatedly to lift more than 40 lbs.
Eligible For Additional Compensation Inclusive Of
  • Variable income opportunities including commission and bonus.
  • Post training increase.

$58,656—$100,000 USD
