Principal Mobile Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mobile Developer with deep expertise in building enterprise-scale, commercial mobile applications. This role is ideal for someone who has spent the majority of their career developing customer-facing mobile apps used by millions, preferably in retail, e-commerce, or similarly high-traffic environments.

This individual will serve as a technical expert and hands-on contributor, specializing in React Native and modern mobile development patterns across both iOS and Android. The Principal Mobile Developer will work closely with engineering leads to design new features, troubleshoot complex production issues, and ensure the performance and scalability of our mobile applications.

• Build, enhance, and maintain critical features of our commercial mobile applications using React Native.
• Develop performant, scalable mobile experiences used by large customer bases.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into high-quality mobile solutions.
• Implement clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to ensure best practices.
• Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for React Native and mobile architecture.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and architectural challenges.
• Support engineering leads with solution design for new features and system improvements.
• Provide technical guidance on mobile best practices, tooling, performance optimization, and scalability patterns.

• 8–10 years of total software development experience, with the majority spent building commercial, customer-facing mobile applications at scale.
• Proven background as a mobile-focused developer (not a generalist or full-time web engineer).
• Deep expertise with React Native — must be an SME capable of advising leads and resolving complex issues.
• Strong experience building and deploying apps for both iOS and Android (hybrid mobile development).
• Previous experience contributing to high-traffic, enterprise mobile apps (e.g., retail, logistics, or membership apps like Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, etc.).
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, performance tuning, debugging large codebases, and optimizing for scale.

• Background with backend or full-stack engineering concepts (Node.js, REST APIs, cloud services).
• Experience with production monitoring tools (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
