The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the HVAC/Building Systems Technician or the Senior HVAC/Building Systems Technician classification. The range for the HVAC/Building Systems Technician is $23.71 - $27.28 per hour, and for the Senior HVAC/Building Systems Technician, it is $26.14 - $30.06 per hour.
This position requires a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check. Please for CJIS disqualifiers.

Summary of Duties : Under basic supervision, the HVAC/Building Systems Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of building infrastructure, including HVAC systems, electrical systems, fire detection and alarm systems, security systems, lighting, emergency power equipment, and associated controls.
Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the journey-level classification in the HVAC/ Building Systems Technician series. Employees in this role perform a variety of HVAC/building systems tasks following established procedures and guidelines to achieve desired outcomes. While most duties are performed independently, more advanced tasks and diagnostics may require supervision or consultative support.
This classification is distinguished from HVAC/ Building Systems Technician, Senior , which involves more complex technical and diagnostic responsibilities requiring a higher level of expertise and skill.
Examples of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Conducts general and preventive maintenance on systems of conveyance (elevators), HVAC, alarm, security, electrical, emergency power, boiler, cooling towers and energy management. Performs snow/ice removal.
- Ensures adherence to preventive maintenance schedules for assigned facilities. Assists in developing preventive maintenance programs for new equipment or newly constructed City buildings and facilities.
- Diagnoses, repairs or replaces faulty system components.
- Performs routine system inspections on fire suppression, fire alarms, access control, security, power delivery, and emergency power systems.
