The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Public Works Maintenance Worker I, Public Works Maintenance Worker II, or Public Works Maintenance Worker III classification. The hourly rate is:
- Maintenance Worker I: $18.81
- Maintenance Worker II: $19.75
- Maintenance Worker III: $20.74
The City of Plano is seeking innovative, forward-thinking individuals to join our team as a Public Works Maintenance Worker I, II, or III in the Signal Department. As a Maintenance Worker, you will assist your Crew Leader with daily traffic signal maintenance throughout the City of Plano and help ensure safe, efficient travel for our community. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work outdoors, learn valuable technical and electrical skills, and contribute to highly visible infrastructure that impacts residents every day.
You will support signal and street light maintenance using basic hand tools, assist with pulling and installing signal cable, help with wiring connections in signal poles and streetlights under supervision with voltages up to 480 volts, operate bucket equipment from the ground and in the bucket, and assist with field data collection and daily work records. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to learn, grow, and build a meaningful career in public service.
This division works four (4) - 10-hour shifts, either Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, or Tuesday - Friday, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, depending on crew assignment.
