Summary
Surgery Center 121 is an ambulatory surgery center specializing in ophthalmic procedures, including cataract surgery, glaucoma treatments, and oculoplastic cases. We are a high-volume, fast-paced facility committed to excellence in patient care and teamwork. We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical care team.
Responsibilities- Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for surgical procedures in a clear and professional manner.
- Obtain and document complete vital signs and perform point-of-care testing as applicable.
- Insert and manage IV lines and administer pre-operative medications per physician orders.
- Review and confirm surgical consent documentation with patients.
- Monitor patient safety and appropriateness for surgery during pre-op assessment.
- Carry out post‑operative orders from surgeons and anesthesiologists.
- Monitor patients during recovery and assess readiness for discharge based on established criteria.
- Educate patients on post‑operative care instructions and answer clinical questions thoroughly.
- Patient Flow & Coordination
- Ensure timely and organized patient transitions through Pre‑Op and PACU areas.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team to facilitate a smooth and efficient daily workflow.
- Provide exceptional patient support to ease anxiety and ensure comfort throughout the perioperative process.
- Administrative & Ancillary Tasks
- Maintain accurate patient records and chart documentation in compliance with protocols.
- Stock and maintain supplies in Pre‑Op and PACU areas.
- Participate in chart audits, patient follow‑up calls, and light environmental cleaning duties.
- Assist with additional clinical and administrative functions as assigned.
- Required:
Licensed RN in the state of Texas - Certifications:
Current BLS and ACLS (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) - Experience:
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred - Excellent multitasking and interpersonal communication skills
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to patient care
- Professional judgment, attention to detail, and team collaboration skills
- High-volume ophthalmic surgical environment with early morning start times.
- Frequent use of digital systems, monitors, and telephones.
- Exposure to clinical noise and occasional interruptions.
- Moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).
