Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Plano West locations. This is a float position, full‑time Monday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5 pm with no weekends, call, or major holidays.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the chart.
- Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient’s chart.
- As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
- Assist patients in locating available community resources.
- Interprofessional collaboration.
- Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing education program (BSN preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
- Willing to consider entry, mid or senior level candidate.
- Current RN state license with the board of the practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
The work environment includes possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Physical RequirementsRequires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lift/carry of up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
