Oncology RN Sr.-Float- Plano West

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Plano West locations. This is a float position, full‑time Monday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5 pm with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient’s chart.
  • As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
• Interprofessional collaboration.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.

• Graduate from an accredited professional nursing education program (BSN preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Willing to consider entry, mid or senior level candidate.
• Current RN state license with the board of the practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

The work environment includes possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lift/carry of up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
