Registered Nurse Qualifications
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
  • At least 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), step-down, or intermediate care nursing jobs
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts
  • Strong clinical assessment, patient monitoring, and healthcare communication skills
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit
  • Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions; respond promptly to changes in status
  • Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions as prescribed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and ongoing health management
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities in compliance with hospital policies
