Job DetailsThe successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Sustainability Coordinator or the Senior Sustainability Coordinator classification. The salary range for the Sustainability Coordinator is $57,816 - $86,725 annually; for the Senior Sustainability Coordinator position is $63,742 – $95,614 annually.

This position focuses on energy conservation, clean air practices, grant application and management and innovative project implementation. Likewise, it entails close collaboration with the team for excellence in program development and delivery as well as active engagement of a variety of audiences to promote sustainable practices at home, school, work and beyond.
The target hiring range for this position is $57,817 - $79,679, depending on qualifications.

Summary of DutiesUnder general supervision, the Environmental Education & Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for presentations, programs and activities for schools, community and civic groups and businesses.
There are six positions with this title, each has a separate area of concentration. The posting title indicates which concentration area applies:
- Garden & Landscaping – Responsible for performing activities associated with landscaping and maintenance of the Environmental Education Center (EEC), Nature Explore Classroom and Discovery Trail. Provides oversight and conducts tours and orientations of the EEC. Oversees operations of the Plano Community Garden (PCG) and acts as a liaison between gardeners and division staff. Schedules and works with volunteer groups to accomplish special projects and tasks.
- Litter Awareness – Responsible for coordinating proper solid waste management, litter prevention, illegal dumping and beautification programming to prevent and reduce litter in the community.
- Waste Reduction – Responsible for coordinating recycling, waste reduction, household chemical reuse, electronic waste, and proper solid waste management programming to increase the residential recycling rate.
- Sustainability – Responsible for performing a wide range of functions including design and implementation of various sustainability projects.
- Outreach & Engagement – Responsible for producing articles, social media content, design work, award applications and outreach material for all SEED division education and outreach programs. Assist the SEED team in promoting and seeking new engagement opportunities for programs and presentations.
- Water Quality & Conservation – Responsible for developing, administering and evaluating water education programming that supports the City’s Water Management Plan, Drought & Emergency Response Plan, Stormwater Permit and Fats, Oils and Grease (F.O.G.) Program.
