The Park Maintenance Supervisor in Athletics is responsible for directing the Sports Turf Maintenance staff in the operation and maintenance of Athletic field turf. Responsibilities include the direct supervision of 2 Assistant Supervisors, and maintenance staff of 11 within area of responsibility. Also responsible for planning, organizing, prioritizing, and implementing the Sports Turf field maintenance and work programs. Candidate must have a strong background in planning and managing an athletic field turf program.

Provides input for budget, CIP, CRF, and service contracts. Responsible for purchasing necessary supplies and tools required for Sports Turf maintenance. Responsible for equipment, supplies, and oversight of safety related programs. Responsible for planning for and preparing and supporting Athletic fields for league play, camps/clinics, and events. Weekend work is required.

Plano Parks and Recreation is seeking a Park Maintenance Superivsor to join the Parks Athletic Division. This position directs the establishment, preparation and on-going maintenance, care and upkeep of 14 athletic sites.

Experience with communicating, supervision, contractor management and equipment operation is valuable. This position contributes to athletic site maintenance and strategic planning, so desired traits include, (1) strong communication, (2) leadership (3) decision making (4) detail oriented, with (5) athletic maintenance practices.

This position supervises a workforce two Assistant Superivsors and 11 maintenance staff who primarily function in the field. Weekend work is required, on-call is required, normal hours are 6:30 – 3:30 M –

F.

The target salary range for this position is $56,035 – $68,642.

• Creates mowing schedules for a variety of properties, including: public building grounds, athletic fields, neighborhood parks, linear, community and special use parks, medians, and rights-of-way.
• Develops and implements turf establishment and development programs, including seeding, sodding, aerification, irrigation, fertilization, and chemical treatments.
• Directs the installation and care of various plant materials, ground covers, annual and perennial floral displays, shrubbery, and trees.
• Creates and implements a broad spectrum program of preventive and curative chemical treatments for turf and various plant materials, emphasizing environmental responsibility and safety.
• Develops and implements non-growing season projects for district improvements, including landscape construction, renovations, grading, irrigation installation, tree planting and pruning.
• Leads the grounds preparations and special setups required for events ranging from homeowners’ association picnics to major attractions drawing large crowds.
• Directs and supervises work goals; establishes appropriate performance goals for district employees; provides periodic assessments of performance levels; recommends corrective and/or disciplinary actions.
• Develops and implements appropriate irrigation rates and schedules for various types of properties utilizing a wide array of irrigation system components.
• Monitors and provides assessments of compliance of multiple contractors engaged in various district related projects.
• Investigates and provides appropriate responses to citizen inquiries, requests and complaints.
