This position will focus on installing, replacing, and doing maintenance on all of our Public signs and post here in Plano.

Qualified candidates will have:

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED
• Experience:
  
  6 to 12 months of installing, replacing, and maintenance of signs and telspar post.

Hours for this position are Monday-Thursday 6:30am to 5:00pm or Tuesday-Friday 6:30am to 5:00pm. Some weekends required.

Summary of Duties : Under basic supervision, the Signs Technician is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of traffic control devices along arterial, collector and residential roadways, according to local, State and Federal laws and regulations.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Management reserves the rights to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
• Installs, repairs and maintains City traffic control signage along arterial, collector and residential roadways, according to the established standards stated in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices .
• Monitors and maintains inventory of signs and markings materials and equipment required for daily operation.
• Maintains and completes daily work orders through asset management and work order software.
• Prioritizes daily schedules, duties, and routes to complete assigned work in a timely manner.
• Address and resolve citizen requests in a respectful and courteous manner through clear communication and accurate information sharing.
• Coordinate and complete Traffic Engineering work orders in a timely manner and confirm assignments meet MUTCD requirements.
• May lead the work activities of others.
• Ensures that conditions of the work site area are safe and clear of utility lines, and traffic is properly routed; trims trees as required to maintain sign visibility.
• Provides communication and job site information to Signs & Markings Supervisors to ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Fabricate traffic signs in the Sign Shop, as needed.
• Assist Markings crew with the installation of pavement markings, as needed.
• Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
