Toyota’s North America Quality (NAQ) Systems & Technology Platforms team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to be the technology leader responsible for application development and support. Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostics & OTA, the person in this role will support the North America Quality (NAQ) Systems & Technology Platforms department's objective to plan, advise, and provide internal consulting services to develop and apply technology solutions that align with business goals and objectives.

• Work closely with Principal Engineers to understand enterprise and portfolio standards applicable to solution design commencement.
• Create proof of concept and prototype development to verify feasibility of design pattern(s).
• Instruct the development teams on the best practices of implementing the proof of concept.
• Lead multiple development teams in implementation based on business requirements.
• Develop designs based on business requirements, collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure their needs are accurately understood and fully met.
• Create low‑level designs using accepted design principles on approved platforms as reviewed by the Principal Engineer in collaboration with the Enterprise Architecture team.
• Maintain awareness of technical competencies of the development team members and work with members to improve and close gaps in knowledge and the way of thinking.
• Set standards for code reviews and framework for solution technical oversight.
• Perform technical oversight of the solutions vendor teams.
• Ensure that the solution design and implementation comply with the latest security guidelines and work to resolve issues flagged in security scans.
• Document and review system health with Principal Engineer on a periodic basis.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture version standards.
• Ensure compliance with cloud standards.
• Proactively analyze cloud costs and ensure that cloud configuration is optimized for efficiency as well as costs.
• Observability and supportability: oversee system health and operational alerts. Ensure that the alerts are categorized, and relevant alerts/errors/warnings are resolved based on priority and severity.
• Incident Management: lead teams in resolution of highly critical (P1/P2) system outages for prompt service restoration. Lead problem investigations and implementation of recommendations/learnings that follow.

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent professional work experience.
• 5‑7 years of progressive experience in Software Engineering and Solution Architecture.
• Strong record of delivering enterprise‑grade solutions across multi‑year initiatives.
• Demonstrated hands‑on work experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including the following products:
  • Search and Analytics (AWS Open Search, Amazon Quick Sight)
  • Containerization (Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS)
  • Managed Database Products (Amazon RDS [Aurora], Dynamo
    
    DB)
  • Serverless Architecture (AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway)
• Demonstrated hands‑on work experience in full‑stack development using:
  • Backend:
    Java, NodeJS, GraphQL
  • Frontend:
    Angular
  • APIs: REST and SOAP services
• Experience implementing modern authentication and authorization mechanisms including:
  • OAuth2
  • Forge Rock Identity Platform
• Strong familiarity with Dev Ops practices, including automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code.
