Physical Therapy Assistant

Overview

Position Summary:

The Physical Therapy Assistant treats referred patients, ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric who are experiencing rehabilitation diagnosis or conditions requiring rehabilitation. Assists in patient care to assess their medical condition, functional capabilities and limitations and restrictions and potential for rehabilitation. Administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patients’ capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician and Physical Therapist.

Educate patients and families in appropriate physical therapy methods.

Provide patient care and assist with rehabilitation planning under supervision. Implement treatment plans with goals based on patient capacity and tolerance, and document progress according to clinical guidelines.

• Current state licensure as an Physical Therapist Assistant
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained from the American Heart Association and/or American Red Cross. Online certification is not acceptable

• Inpatient rehabilitation experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Detail-oriented, able to meet strict time frames
