Patient Care Tech (PCT) Intensive Care (Full-time/Days)

Texas Health Plano warmly welcomes patient care technologists to join our intensive care unit on a full-time day schedule (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM). This role offers the chance to work in a 30-bed ICU, Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Program, and STEMI Center.

Texas Health Plano – 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, TX 75093

Work Hours

Full Time Days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM). Three 12‑hour day shifts per week for 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and additional holiday coverage as requested.

Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment, phones, and PCs.
  • PCT Training Program (TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program). Certification not required to be maintained after hire.
  • EMT – Emergency Medical Technician or equivalent military medical training (equivalent to EMT‑B). Required upon hire.
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Required upon hire.
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Required upon hire.
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to independent patient care and maintained quarterly. Required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually (within 90 days). Required.
  • Possesses organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and sinal written communication skills.
  • Nursing students who do not complete/@nursing course of study but have completed Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain EMT status may continue if skills are consistently demonstrated.
Responsibilities
  • Assist patient according to plan of care.
  • Collect patient data, identify and report significant findings to nurse.
  • Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Provide and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
  • Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
  • Enter orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
  • Document accurately and appropriately.
  • In collaboration/consultation with nurse, adapt care to reflect patient population.
  • In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporate cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
  • Keep patient environment clean and safe.
  • Anticipate patient/family and visitor needs and take action to meet those needs, rounding as appropriate.
