Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano, TX | 1100 Allied Dr, Plano, TX 75093

Join our team of experienced perfusionists in a high‑volume, adult‑only cardiac specialty hospital with 10 operating rooms and over 2,000 cardiac cases per year. The hospital is expanding with new satellite facilities in Dallas and Frisco over the next 6 to 24 months.

Hiring Status

We are hiring: 1 Perfusionist for the Plano location and 2 Perfusionists for immediate placement at our Dallas facility. Each site will have dedicated staff and a float pool for vacation coverage.

The Plano campus also hosts a Perfusion School where staff serve as clinical instructors. Candidates with 1–2 years of experience are preferred.

Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Perfusion program
  • Cert Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) and Licensed Perfusionist (PERFUSIO) by Texas Medical Board at time of hire/transfer
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
Job Requirements
  • Must be present/onsite within 30 minutes of call.
  • Must be available Monday–Friday with rotating weekends and holidays.
Job Summary

The Perfusionist operates extracorporeal circulation equipment to support or replace cardiopulmonary, circulatory, or respiratory function. The role includes selecting appropriate equipment and techniques, monitoring patient physiology, and working under physician supervision.

Essential Functions
  • Monitors the altered circulatory process and initiates appropriate action when abnormalities arise, keeping the surgeon and team informed.
  • Ensures sterility and integrity of disposable equipment and correct setup and breakdown of all equipment.
  • Monitors cell saver and operates the heart‑lung machine, blood gas examination machine, clotting time/heparin analyzer, and cardiac‑help devices.
  • Mixes and administers drugs and solutions for extracorporeal circulation following best practices and policies.
  • Adjusts gas flow and mixtures, administers anesthetic agents, blood, drugs, and fluids via the extracorporeal circuit.
  • Records perfusion information during surgery and evaluates and maintains records after surgery.
  • Performs quality control/preventive maintenance, maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.
Key Success Factors
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and biology.
  • Knowledge of several cardiac diseases, defects, and congenital anomalies.
  • Knowledge of sterile and perfusion supplies, including oxygenators, tubing circuits, and cannulae for adult, pediatric, and infant patients.
  • Knowledge of blood flow paths, pressures, and gas exchange in patients across all age groups.
  • Knowledge of blood components and plasma composition and use of blood products.
  • Skill in operating extracorporeal circulation and autotransfusion equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow orders, take directions, and deploy written perfusion protocols.
  • Ability to communicate clearly during operation of extracorporeal devices and provide patient care.
  • Ability to learn and apply regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Teamwork and collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Calmness in stressful situations.

    Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience:

    1 year of experience
  • Certification/License/Registration:
    Cert Clinical Perfusionist (CCP), Licensed Perfusionist (PERFUSIO), BLS within 30 days.
