Polysomnography Technician - PRN, Nights at Texas Health Resources

Location:

Texas Health Center for Diagnostics and Surgery, 6020 West Parker Road, Plano, Texas, 75093.

Schedule:

PRN, 18:00 – 06:00; weekend availability required.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an acceptable polysomnography program of at least one year duration at a state‑licensed or nationally accredited educational facility, or equivalent experience and documented proficiency in all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • One year experience in a Sleep Lab/Center, preferably within a hospital setting.
  • RPSGT – Registered Polysomnographic Technician upon hire.
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to independent patient care and to be maintained quarterly upon hire.
What You Will Do
  • Ensure the care and safety of patients undergoing testing and/or treatment, using equipment to minimize any hazards.
  • Review patient’s medical history, allergies, current medications, and questionnaire information.
  • Explain procedures to patients before, during, and after the sleep study, including pre‑testing, testing, and post‑testing instructions.
  • Perform patient set‑up by attaching electrodes and monitors according to accepted standards.
  • Follow procedural protocols (e.g., Multiple Sleep Latency Test, Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration) to ensure appropriate data collection.
  • Monitor patients via video for any unusual sleep behaviors.
  • Ensure signals are received on the computer and that all monitors record data throughout the sleep study.
  • Acquire polysomnographic data while monitoring study‑tracing quality, ensuring signals are artifact‑free and making adjustments as necessary.
