ABOUT THE JOB:
Tapcheck is seeking a Director of Product, Money Movement to own the strategy and execution of Tapcheck’s end-to-end money movement ecosystem.
This role has holistic accountability for:
Outbound payments (how Tapcheck sends money)
Inbound repayments and collections (how Tapcheck recovers funds)
Payment instruments (cards and accounts)
Payment rails (ACH, real-time payments, debit, card networks, invoicing, and partner integrations)
The Director of Product, Money Movement ensures these systems operate as one coherent, scalable, and auditable platform, supporting both our current B2B2C model and our expansion into new products and business models.
This is a senior product leadership role with meaningful scope and ownership. While you will lead through influence and collaboration, you are also expected to stay close to the work—grounded in systems, data, and execution—so decisions are fast, informed, and durable.
Why This Role MattersTapcheck’s platform was originally built for simpler financial flows. Today, our business has evolved:
Funds may be disbursed once and repaid across many employers
Payroll partners may aggregate repayments across clients
Employee-level transactions must map cleanly to employer and partner identities
Every dollar must be traceable, reconcilable, and compliant
As complexity increases, money movement cannot be optimized in silos. This role exists to ensure payments, repayments, data models, and accounting realities work together seamlessly as Tapcheck scales.
What You’ll Do End-to-End Money Movement StrategyOwn the product vision and roadmap for Tapcheck’s full money movement lifecycle:
Disbursement of funds to users
Recovery of funds from employers, payroll partners, and consumers
Routing across multiple payment rails
Accurate attribution across employees, employers, and partners
Ensure money movement supports multiple business models, including partner-led and direct-to-consumer use cases.
Lead strategy for outbound payments across:
Payroll and general-purpose reloadable (GPR) cards
ACH, RTP, and Fed Now
Debit push/pull
Sponsor-bank and third-party rails
Define how Tapcheck selects and routes payments based on speed, cost, reliability, compliance, and user experience.
Partner closely with Engineering to evolve toward a flexible, rail-agnostic payment orchestration layer.
Own the roadmap for card products and payment instruments that support wage access and future financial products.
Be accountable for the strategy and integration of Tapcheck’s repayments ecosystem, including:
Employer-funded repayments
Payroll service bureau integrations
Employee-level recovery flows
Invoicing, ACH, real-time payments, checks, and API-based collections
Ensure repayment systems scale with increasing partner complexity and transaction volume.
Drive alignment between repayment logic, transaction data models, and accounting requirements.
Partner closely with Repayments Product, Payment Operations, Risk, Data, and Accounting to ensure recovery is predictable, transparent, and auditable.
Ensure every transaction—outbound or inbound—is:
Fully traceable
Correctly attributed
Reconcilable across operational systems and financial reporting
Guide the evolution of data models that support aggregation, itemization, and multi-entity financial flows.
Balance automation and control to reduce manual effort while maintaining financial correctness.
Own unit economics across money movement, including processing costs, interchange, recovery rates, losses, and contribution margin.
Define and track KPIs that reflect real system health (e.g., success rates, latency, cost per transaction, exception rates).
Leverage modern tooling and AI-enabled product development practices to design, build, and ship high-quality systems with speed and accuracy.
Lead cross-functional execution across Product, Engineering, Finance, Risk, Compliance, CX, and Operations.
Act as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership on sequencing, tradeoffs, and long-term platform evolution.
