Position Purpose: The Underwriter must believe in, practice, and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how they approach their role at Green Brick Partners.

Green Brick Mortgage is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team in Plano, TX. As an Underwriter, you will evaluate and approve loan applications based on company standards and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the quality and profitability of the loans.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze loan applications and supporting documentation.
Assess borrower creditworthiness and risk.
Ensure loans meet company and regulatory guidelines.
Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions to Loan Officers and Processors.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve loan issues.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and company policies.

Supervision of Others: N/A

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion And Independent Judgment Ability

Utilizes discretion, judgment, and high-level analytical skills to interpret complex situations.

Education

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.

Competencies

Strong knowledge of mortgage lending regulations and guidelines.
Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective communication skills.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
