OSP Engineer

The successful candidate must meet a majority of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below.

• Perform all aspects of OSP engineering for FTTH and FTTB, heavily involved in activities including: planning and designing the LIGHTGIG Network (FTTH).
• Read, understand, and interpret the Fielding inputs.
• Ensure timely delivery of jobs with utmost quality.
• Have experience with ARAMIS DT, OptiNT, AOTX, MIC and LFACS.
• Design, provision, document, and plan Outside Plant Fiber Optic Cable (UG, aerial, buried) and manhole and conduit design.
• Have strong knowledge of FTTH LIGHT GIG network for better understanding of designs.
• Have planning experience (F1 and F2 network architecture).
• Deep knowledge of FNAP and BAU cables.
• Support the design and engineering process by planning and preparing drawings for construction of new, removal or rearrangement of existing fiber optic cables and conduits.
• Complete designs in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines.
• Work with outside agencies to obtain right-of-way approvals and coordinate projects with other utilities.
• Acquire permits and/or private easements.
• Read and understand highway/road prints, identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing of lines and equipment required for work projects.
• Ensure the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provide support for the deployment of access technologies.
• Provide on-site construction inspection to ensure design specifications are met.
• Delegate and assure that all crossing agreement requests are allocated and responses acquired, including railway, highway, pipeline, environmental, heritage, and other crossings as required.
• Perform field surveys based on requirement.
• Adhere to and promote environmental, health & safety policies.
• Perform upper-level complexity of jobs and functions within the district, focusing on AT&T GPON design.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
• Support pre-sale customer meetings and bid process.
