Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our Electrical team in Plano, TX. This role will perform testing and evaluation on a variety of products to meet national, international, and industry‑specific performance and durability standards; write reports; and communicate with clients. The position will travel at least 25% of the time and is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

What You’ll Do
  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards for the equipment under test (EUT).
  • Review client‑provided or published performance or product safety standards.
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
  • Follow established test plans and set up/operate EUT.
  • Perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
  • Conduct construction review, create evaluation reports and test plans, and witness testing.
  • Use a variety of test equipment (e.g., temperature/humidity chambers, programmable power supplies, PLCs, actuators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, dielectric strength testers, surge generators).
  • Perform core tests such as battery cycling, temperature/humidity soak, durability cycling, voltage/current measurement, dielectric, pressure, fault condition simulation, rain, dust, and corrosion.
  • Compile test results, data, and product description into final reports and submit for approval.
  • Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management.
  • Mentor less senior technical personnel.
  • Provide information for quotes (project length, site needs, rental equipment, samples, standards).
  • Follow sample handling procedures, logging samples in and out of the system, moving equipment, and packaging samples for shipment.
  • Provide sales support, such as attending client visits and ongoing client support as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (focus on electrical circuits, renewable energy).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a directly related field.
  • Prior direct experience in the renewable energy field.
  • Direct experience and knowledge of US, Canadian, and international product safety standards (e.g., UL 9540, UL 1541, UL 1741, UL 3141, UL 1973, UL 1703, PV Trackers – UL 3703).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Detailed‑oriented with effective prioritization, organization, and time management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Customer‑focused and quality driven.
  • Travel as business needs dictate (25%–50%).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Applicants will be required to complete an I‑9 to verify eligibility to work in the U.S. and must reside in and be legally able to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior project management experience.
