Electrical Design Technician
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Design Technician to join our renewables team in Plano, TX. This role focuses on designing utility‑scale solar energy systems primarily using AutoCAD, creating construction documents and performing quantity takeoffs.
Responsibilities- Produce construction documents for commercial and utility‑scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
- Coordinate with civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and surveyors.
- Create construction drawings—including site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, one‑lines, details, equipment/wire schedules—using AutoCAD.
- Generate wiring/cable schedules based on takeoffs and sizing input from senior designers/engineers.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of Westwood design/CAD standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of NEC and/or NESC.
- Understanding of basic electrical design concepts.
- Entry level experience preferred.
