Using first‑principles thinking, GNC engineers leverage a foundational understanding of physics along with multi‑disciplinary experience to develop and evaluate system capabilities that steer program direction. Engineers are responsible for simulation and software development, implementation, testing, and analysis supporting various vehicle types and configurations within the Agile Development Group, which focuses on disruptive, next‑generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems, radar, weapon systems, and RF sensor technologies.
EssentialFunctions
- Support simulation and software development
- Develop dynamic vehicle aerodynamic, propulsion, and hardware/sensor models
- Develop guidance algorithms to provide mission capability
- Design and tune controllers for vehicle stability, control, and performance
- Integrate sensor feedback for navigation and track‑state estimation development
- Evaluate system performance, capabilities, and sensitivities using a variety of methods
- Support root‑cause failure identification and resolution studies
- Create design and results documentation for internal and external customers
- Support growth of the GNC Functional Organization through creation of technical/process resources
- Obtain and maintain DoD security clearances as required
- Meet physical requirements (e.g., lift up to 20 lbs.)
- Travel up to 10% may be required for field testing and/or multi‑site support
- Perform other duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; graduate degree and minimum 2 years of prior related experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience
- Active DoD secret security clearance
- Experience in at least one GNC discipline (Guidance, Navigation, Control Theory, Track‑State Estimation, High‑Fidelity Vehicle Modeling)
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or C/C++
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mathematics
- Demonstrated problem solving and trade/parametric study execution
- Familiarity with a variety of mission sensor types (RADAR, EO/IR, etc.) and modes
- Familiarity with vehicle sensor types (GPS, IMU, ADS, etc.) and modes
- Familiarity with tracker types and Kalman filtering
- Background in physics/rigid‑body dynamics
- Excellent people skills, including leading and collaborating in a multi‑disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Positive attitude, mentoring, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and delegation
- Commitment to organizational success and strong work ethic
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
