Position
Clinical Assistant –
Southern Orthodontic Partners
Clinical Assistants provide chairside assistance to orthodontists and ensure that patients are well‑informed about orthodontic procedures and braces aftercare. They prepare for appointments, sterilize orthodontic tools, and adjust patients’ braces under the direction of the orthodontist. They engage in a relationship with each patient and ensure a special experience for each patient they touch.
Responsibilities- Assists in placing and removing orthodontic appliances.
- Take X‑rays/scans, create molds and impressions of patients’ teeth for the fabrication of retainers.
- May photograph patients to document progress.
- Maintains accurate records of patients’ oral health histories and treatment progress.
- Ensures all orthodontic instruments and equipment are properly sterilized before each use.
- Treat patients as honored guests and provide unforgettable experiences.
- Assists orthodontists by preparing for procedures, laying out instruments, and keeping patient’s mouths dry with suction tools.
- Communicates any problem areas regarding patient progress to Orthodontist.
- Educates patients (and parents) on proper oral hygiene practices and braces aftercare.
- Learns and becomes proficient in EMR usage.
- Works with team and patients to coordinate scheduling.
- Cross‑trains in front office duties and fills in as necessary.
- Makes adjustments to patient braces, brackets and bands as directed by Orthodontist.
- Accompanies patient from waiting area to chair while engaging in conversation.

- High School Diploma or GED.
- Computer experience.
- Flexible schedule.
- RDA and/or CA Certification;
Associate’s Degree in related field. - CPR Certification.
- 1–2 years recent experience in a dental environment.

- Sitting, standing, walking for much of the day.
- Manual dexterity; lifting up to 30 pounds (may exceed this amount at times in emergency patient situations).
