We are looking for a skilled General Construction Engineer / Estimator in Plano, TX. This role requires 5+ years in construction
, specifically with single-family residential projects. The selected candidate will play a key role in preconstruction planning, cost estimation, and project coordination for a growing general contractor operating in the Plano area. This position is based in Plano, TX and involves both ground-up construction and home renovations throughout the city. Candidates should have hands‑on experience preparing estimates, reviewing construction plans, and supporting field operations.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for single-family residential projects in Plano, TX.
- Analyze architectural and engineering drawings to determine materials, labor, and project scope.
- Request, review, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, tracking changes and maintaining financial oversight.
- Coordinate with project managers and field staff to ensure estimates reflect real‑world construction activities.
- Assist with value engineering to optimize cost effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Support permitting, scheduling, and compliance with Plano building codes.
- Maintain organized documentation of estimates, contracts, and project records.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction estimating or construction engineering.
- Proven expertise with single-family residential construction projects.
- Proficiency with estimating and construction management software (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore, Plan Swift, Bluebeam).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and residential building codes.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze architectural and structural drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
