Construction Senior Engineer – Toyota North America

Responsibilities
  • Lead construction projects from scope development through all phases of planning through construction implementation to project turnover.
  • Lead the development of project scope documents, budgets, bids, permits, RFPs, contractor management, GC relationships, executive‑level status reports, and KPIs for each assigned project.
  • Oversee contractors to ensure construction projects are delivered in accordance with KPIs for cost, schedule, specifications, standards and safety.
  • Lead project status meetings with stakeholders to ensure standardization, communication and expectations among multiple groups and vendors.
  • Gain executive consensus and liaise with site leaders/customers and regional contacts for timely report out and coordination of all construction activities and be champion for change management with senior leadership.
  • Work with internal groups to ensure vendor contracts are updated and renewed as required, enter purchase requisitions into standard procurement system and oversee invoice approvals for construction projects.
Qualifications
  • Strong ability to lead pre‑construction planning, project/construction management and building design steps to ensure construction projects are correctly designed and built to accurate specifications.
  • Proven ability to concurrently execute projects of varied size and type at multiple locations via standardized process and methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem‑solving skills in support of resolving issues with sustainable countermeasures and mitigating risk related to project scope, schedules, budget, and safety.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting technical mechanical and architectural drawing sets/construction document sets to understand design implications, summarize key points and communicate findings/issues.
  • Extensive understanding of building codes, trade sequencing, construction phases, change management and OSHA standards.
  • Strong financial management skills including construction cost estimating and accurate forecasting of budget variances.
  • Experience in process development and implementation skills for continuous improvement of construction project delivery.
  • Customer service approach to project support and commitment to teamwork.
  • Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management.
  • This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Additional Bonus
  • Senior level work experience with a general contractor and/or working at an architectural/engineering firm on large construction projects.
  • Advanced project experience in childcare centers, dining facilities, light industrial, warehouse operations, security installations and/or office interior renovations.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Professional Engineering License, Architecture License or Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Experience in industrial mechanical systems (piping, chilled water, compressed air, etc.) and/or industrial power systems (switch gear, power distribution systems, 480

    VAC and higher).
  • Strong background in budget development and tracking, equipment commissioning and PM software tool expertise.
