Job Description Product Manager – Apply & Checkout (Plano, Texas – In‑Office) About The Position

We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the Apply and Checkout experiences for Rent‑A‑Center across online and in‑store channels. As Rent‑A‑Center expands its digital footprint and in‑store enablement, this role will own the core flows that turn customer demand into completed applications and transactions. You will be responsible for application development, identity verification, fraud detection, payments, and checkout experiences, partnering closely with engineering, design, analytics, risk, and operations to deliver simple, effective, and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer and associate needs across digital and in‑store application and checkout journeys through research, behavioral data, and direct feedback, and translate those insights into a clear product vision.
  • Own and evolve the Apply and Checkout roadmap, prioritizing opportunities that improve conversion, approval quality, fraud outcomes, customer trust, and operational efficiency.
  • Design and iterate on experiences that build confidence during sensitive moments such as identity verification, payment setup, and approval decisions.
  • Use experimentation, data, and sound judgment to make deliberate tradeoffs between customer experience, fraud risk, compliance requirements, and operational cost.
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, analytics, risk, and business stakeholders to define requirements, address technical complexity, and deliver secure and scalable solutions.
  • Lead the development, launch, and iteration of capabilities spanning application flows, identity and fraud controls, bank and payment integrations, and supporting in‑store tools.
  • Ensure experiences remain cohesive across channels, enabling smooth transitions between digital and associate‑led interactions.
  • Evaluate performance through analytics and testing, translating insights into actionable improvements that drive growth, engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate strategy, progress, risks, and insights clearly to senior leadership and cross‑functional partners.
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years of product management experience building and improving consumer‑facing products.
  • Experience owning complex, high‑stakes flows such as applications, onboarding, checkout, payments, identity verification, fraud prevention, or conversion‑focused experiences.
  • Experience working with or integrating third‑party services such as identity verification providers, fraud tools, payment processors, or banking platforms.
  • Comfort using data, experimentation, and analysis to size opportunities, guide decisions, and measure outcomes.
  • A solid understanding of software development and the ability to write clear, actionable requirements for engineering teams.
  • Proven experience owning products from idea through launch and continuous iteration in fast‑paced environments.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive compensation
  • Full health benefits – Medical/Dental/Vision
  • 401(k) match, (5%/4%)
  • DTO (discretionary time off)
  • Health savings account (HSA) with company contribution
  • College tuition reimbursement program (STEM degrees)
  • Unlimited use of Linked In Learning
