Junior Accountant Job Description
This position requires strong knowledge of general accounting principles and sales tax laws. It involves regular interaction with internal departments as well as internal and external auditors. The role also requires working one Sunday per month (swapped with a weekday) and overtime when necessary.
Responsibilities- Review job contracts and gather documentation to prepare accurate job‑costing spreadsheets
- Coordinate with Project Managers on progress billing and collections
- Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and balance sheets
- Prepare audit materials within required timelines
- Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely and validated invoice payments
- Monitor cycle count program compliance
- Assist the Controller with various tasks and projects
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing within the last 5 years
- Experience with bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ability to analyze balance sheets and P&L statements
- Proficient in Excel (formulas and pivot tables)
- Strong time‑management and communication skills
- Ability to work one Sunday per month and additional hours when needed for deadlines
- Preferred: cost accounting and inventory accounting experience
