Assistant Controller- Career

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join finance team at a large construction firm in Plano, TX. This role bridges hands-on accounting with strategic oversight, particularly in construction-specific accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and leadership ability to a collaborative environment.

, offering the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely while being part of an experienced and supportive leadership team
. Compensation includes a base salary up to $130,000
, plus bonus potential and a strong benefits package.

• Lead full-cycle accounting operations:
  Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, WIP (Work-in-Progress), cost accounting, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  , including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Oversee percentage-of-completion (PoC) revenue recognition and ensure accurate project accounting in compliance with GAAP and SOP 81-1 standards.
• Handle multi-entity consolidations
  , ensuring accurate roll-ups, eliminations, and intercompany reconciliations across multiple business units.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  , delivering insights to guide decision-making.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls while documenting and improving accounting policies and procedures.
• Serve as a key contact for external auditors and tax advisors
  , preparing schedules and ensuring compliance.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and supporting professional development.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives
  , including financial system improvements and process automation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  , Finance
  , or related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including construction industry accounting and full-cycle accounting
  .
• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or NAV) with strong system utilization skills.
• Experience in multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting.
• Expertise in percentage-of-completion (PoC) and project-based accounting
  .
• Public accounting background and/or CPA credential preferred.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting standards (AICPA SOP 81-1).
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Experience with construction-specific accounting platforms (Sage, Viewpoint, Vista, etc.) a plus.
• Base salary
