- The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing and processing vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role supports the accounting department by performing day-to-day accounts payable functions and helping ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Process and verify invoices for accuracy, approvals, and compliance with company policies.
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure proper documentation before payment.
- Prepare and execute payments via checks, ACH, wire transfers, or other methods.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or payment issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and update the general ledger accordingly.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and build strong relationships with external partners.
- Support audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives in the AP function.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in a high-volume AP environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and electronic payment platforms.
- Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
