Overview
The Tax Audit Analyst will assist the Tax Audit Manager in tracking and processing tax audits related to sales, use, occupancy, and excise taxes as administered by multiple jurisdictions. The Analyst will request and assemble documents to present to the auditor in an organized and traceable manner. The Analyst will work directly with governmental representatives, hotel personnel, operations members, accounting staff and other tax department members.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of tax and accounting experience
- Experience in hospitality a plus
- Ability to manage, track multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and circumstances.
- Proficiency in using Excel and Word plus develop comprehension of other applications in use.
- Familiarity with JD Edwards accounting system is a plus.
- Familiarity with Tax Compliance is a plus.
- Ability to perform tax research and reach the appropriate conclusions.
- Requires knowledge of accounting, particularly the application of State and Local tax rules and regulations.
- Requires an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, reports and terminology.
- Use good judgement in calculation for the best audit outcome.
- Familiar with Fixed Assets terms and purposes.
- Adhere to the policies outlines in the Aimbridge Employee Handbook.
- Maintain relationships and communication, written & verbal, between all levels of Aimbridge employees, outside providers and government representatives.
- All written and verbal communication should be professional, clear and concise.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and system of internal control for each Tax Department functional area and corresponding services.
- Adhere to Aimbridge document management and retention policies.
- Develop professional and technical knowledge by researching tax questions utilizing CCH, attending educational workshops or class reviewing professional publications; establishing personal network, participating in professional organizations.
- Timely preparation and distribution of required reports and data for audit processing.
- Continuously maintain audit log with new audits and progress of current audits.
- Cross-train for other Tax Analyst job functions as back up for positions as needed.
- Extended hours may be required at times.
