Accounting Manager (contract to hire)

Plano retail company is hiring:

• Oversee the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts receivable and general ledger.
• Help the Controller assess and continuously improve accounting practices and procedures.
• Assist in the development of internal controls and work effectively with team for implementation of related processes.
• Develop, coach, and train the accounting staff by managing performance, setting goals (responsible for target dates for month‑end close) and training the staff to be more effective and efficient.
• Be the lead and provide information to external auditors during the annual financial audit.
• Be very knowledgeable in sales and use tax, ASC 842, and ASC 606.
• Review and sign off on all balance sheet reconciliations by 10th business day of each month.
• Ensure timely and accurate journal entries are approved and signed off on.
• Assist in conducting operational data analysis and report tracking/generation.
• Collaborate with other finance and accounting team members, as well as field personnel, to best support the operations of the Company.
• Initiate and/or complete additional job duties that may be required due to the company’s rapid growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including working with large data sets.
• Experience using Avalara/Fin Query (or a similar lease software), Quick Books and Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central accounting software is a plus.
• Experience preparing financial packages for senior management and financial/lending institutions.
