This job checks aircraft engine parts to make sure they are built exactly to the drawing. You measure metal parts during production and again before they ship to customers. If something is out of spec, you document the issue and work with production and engineering to fix it.
You split time between the shop floor and an inspection station
, carefully measuring parts and recording results. This role helps make sure aircraft parts are safe and meet strict requirements.
- Precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Engineering drawings and blueprints
- Inspection paperwork and documentation
- (Plus) CMM machines
- (Plus) First Article Inspection (FAI) reports
