Job Description Responsibilities- Accountable for performing day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities; ensures efficient workflow and a positive patient experience; serves as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician.
- Responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist; supervising pharmacy technicians and cashiers per company policies and regulations.
- Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel; leads training, coaching, and performance management; makes decisions regarding discipline and termination.
- Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolves complaints and answers non‑clinical questions to ensure a positive experience; models customer‑service best practices.
- Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services; enhances the experience by focusing on healthcare services.
- Assists pharmacist in patient care delivery—registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification (where allowed); completes physician calls under supervision; assists with vaccines, screenings, and other permissible services.
- Delegates, directs, and assigns non‑clinical work; ensures tasks are completed on‑time and holds others accountable.
- Prepares, files reports and records required by company and government agencies.
- Manages core workflow, coordinates daily schedule, recommends hours, and keeps pharmacy clean and stocked.
- Exercises independent judgment to ensure compliance with business activities and inventory tasks that do not require licensure; manages annual inventory preparation.
- Completes non‑clinical patient calls.
- Drives new technology/process roll‑out, champions change, and involves team around action planning; ensures proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensures security safeguards are in place; supports manager with diversion monitoring and reporting concerns.
- Communicates prescription errors to pharmacist; adheres to policies for pharmacy errors and continuous improvement.
- Processes insurance claims, follows up with insurers and providers, and participates in audits.
- Assists store and pharmacy managers in improving financials, quality, and service.
- Manages community outreach portal and assigns pharmacists to off‑site clinics; builds retail partnership relationships.
- Leads performance management of technicians; recommends decisions on discipline, termination, and constructive discipline policy; holds technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness.
- Accounts for hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of technicians; ensures timely training completion.
- Identifies knowledge gaps among team members and supports training via hands‑on or learning modules.
- Monitors licensure and certification status of pharmacy staff; documents status using Walgreens Verification System.
- Ensures procedures are followed for recruitment, record retention, and training per policy and law.
- Maintains PTCB certification through designated training and/or state‑required certification.
- Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
- Obtains necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as LTMP e‑modules; follows performance improvement plans.
- Seeks professional development, solicits feedback, and leverages supervisor as mentor.
- Communicates with team; relays messages from support center; participates in store/pharmacy meetings.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
- Previous people‑management/leadership experience.
- Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation performance evaluation.
Salary range:
Hourly $22.50 – $31.00
