Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Director/Program Director to help lead Long Island's largest Jewish Day Camp. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire a vibrant team of staff while creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for children and youth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, experience in program management, and a strong background working with children.
You will oversee daily operations, develop innovative activities, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality camp experiences that promote growth, learning, and fun.
- Enrollment, Retention, and Recruitment of staff hiring and supervision; program planning and implementation.
- Responsible for engaging with the Mid Island Y JCC community during the year, helping to create and implement family and youth programs at our Plainview location when camp is not in session.
- Build strong relationships with campers, staff, and families in a way that inspires confidence and trust.
- 5-8 years of experience in camp leadership or youth development with a demonstrated ability to contribute to high‑quality programs and positive outcomes.
- Experience with ACA Accreditation and Suffolk or Nassau Department of Health encouraged but not required.
- Proven experience working with students or youth in educational or recreational settings.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams in fast‑paced environments.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in program planning and execution.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with children, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
Working closely with the Camp Director and leadership team, the Assistant Director/Program Director will play essential roles in fostering camp spirit, ensuring smooth operations and helping deliver an exceptional summer experience for the entire Mid Island Day Camp community.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
