Overview
Responsible for everyday operational tasks for Richard
A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center operations in designated recreation area(s). The Recreation Crew Leader will greet customers, answer phones, and engage in face-to-face communication to support superior customer service. Responsibilities include enforcing facility admissions, monitoring department rules, conducting daily audits, preparing notes and agenda items for part-time position meetings, and delegating tasks to recreation part-time staff. The role may include various related duties as assigned.
Duties And Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide excellent customer service and open communications with community members, guests, staff, and other affiliates.
- Provide direction and supervision to part-time recreation staff and operations during shift.
- Open and/or close recreation facilities depending on the shift; ensure safety and security for facilities and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of recreation areas for documenting attendance, facility maintenance, and safety reports.
- Organize and maintain inventory of designated recreation areas, organizational supplies, custodial supplies, and equipment.
- Make recommendations on specifications for the purchase of new inventory and supplies as needed.
- Complete first aid and CPR training; attend safety in-service training sessions to gain knowledge of risk management protocols. Serve as primary contact for emergency communications as needed and report hazardous conditions to supervision. Maintain required in-service hours.
- Conduct a daily audit of prior daily transactions to ensure procedures are followed by front desk staff; report errors or corrections to the Recreation Manager or Assistant Recreation Manager in their absence.
- Operate a computer, cash register, calculator, and other office equipment for daily operations and accounting transactions.
- Assist with accident reports, program registrations, and other operational reports; maintain daily cash reports and other revenue and data information.
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures, including the Town of Plainfield employee manual, health guidelines for food service, and risk management standards; report discrepancies in cash handling or reporting processes to a supervisor.
- Other related duties as assigned.
This job has no full-time supervisory responsibilities. The position will supervise admissions/concessions part-time staff by giving direction and delegating duties as needed to enhance operations.

Previous recreation and/or customer service experience is preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. - Other

Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Civic Rec; strong oral and written communication; ability to resolve conflicts; cash handling and math skills;
English proficiency (Spanish desired); must maintain positive attitude and uphold PARKS values.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions. Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistive devices. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment may include wet or humid conditions, exposure to chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, and risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually moderate to loud. Hours may extend beyond typical office hours and weekends. A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is desired for driving Parks and Recreation Department vehicles.
