Title:Small Parts Build Technician
Department: Plainfield
Reports to: Production Engineer Manager
Working Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6AM to 4:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break
Job Summary /Objective of JobThe Small Parts Build Technician is responsible for the complete remanufacturing process of manual transmission oil pumps and related components within a single cell environment. This includes teardown, cleaning, inspection, rebuilding, and testing of oil pumps, as well as rebuilding additional small components. This position will also be trained to perform threaded hole repair, including light welding and reconditioning processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to manage multiple steps of the remanufacturing process independently.
Summaryof Essential Job Functions
- Disassemble oil pumps and related components according to established procedures
- Clean components using appropriate equipment and cleaning processes
- Inspect parts for wear, damage, and defects to determine reusability
- Rebuild oil pumps and related components to meet company quality standards
- Perform functional testing of rebuilt oil pumps to ensure proper operation
- Repair threaded holes and damaged threads using approved repair methods, including light welding (training provided)
- Rebuild additional small transmission components as assigned
- Maintain organized work area and proper handling of parts throughout the process
- Accurately record inspection results, repairs, and completed work
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies
- Support production goals and maintain efficient workflow within the cell
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 1–3 years’ experience in mechanical assembly, rebuilding, manufacturing, or related field preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, measuring tools, and shop equipment
- Willingness to learn welding and threaded repair processes (training provided)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to multi-task and remain focused in a fast-paced environment
