Quality Technician (Production / Lab Testing)

Location: Plainfield, IL

Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Start Date: ASAP

Industry: Manufacturing / Food & Beverage / Distilled Spirits

Duration: 12 months with possible extensions

Job Summary

Client is seeking a Quality Technician to support production operations by ensuring products meet all quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance standards (TTB and internal company requirements). This role is part of the plant Quality Team and will perform microbiological and analytical testing to ensure finished products and ingredients meet specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience working in a production laboratory environment supporting manufacturing operations and is comfortable performing hands-on testing, audits, and inspections.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide quality leadership and support to production teams during the shift
• Perform microbiological testing on water, ingredients, and distilled products
• Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Global Risk Management and North American quality standards
• Inspect raw materials to confirm conformance to product specifications
• Perform sensory analysis of in-process and finished products
• Perform analytical testing to validate product quality and specification compliance
• Support non-conforming product processes including holds and documentation
• Maintain accurate testing documentation and quality reports
• Assist with calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of lab testing equipment
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production lab environment
• Experience with quality testing in a plant setting (production experience required)
• Strong understanding of quality control processes and documentation
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 3–5 years of analytical lab experience in a manufacturing setting
• Familiarity with lab instruments such as:
• HPLC
• Spectrophotometer
• Microbiology testing tools/equipment
• Experience in food & beverage, chemical manufacturing, or regulated production environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits
• Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally
• Able to respond quickly to production quality issues
• Ability to follow SOPs and maintain compliance standards

Additional Notes

• Candidate must answer screening questions regarding lab/production experience and equipment exposure (HPLC, spectrophotometer, etc.)
