Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Join Paxxon Healthcare Services as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Paxxon is dedicated to providing evidence‑based, person‑centered therapeutic services to residents in a therapist‑owned, innovative geriatric care environment.

Job Overview

Part‑time position (approx. 40 hrs/month). The COTA administers treatment plans under the direction of Occupational Therapists and assists with patient documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate skill in occupational therapy techniques, ensuring patients receive effective treatment with positive responses.
  • Maintain and enhance patient dignity and modesty during treatment and establish appropriate therapist‑patient rapport.
  • Follow accepted precautions, contraindications, and therapeutic techniques.
  • Provide accurate and timely patient records, completing daily documentation and communicating significant changes in progress.
  • Document equipment, home programs, handouts, and all communication with physicians and POA concerning patient status.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, social workers, physical and speech therapists, and other staff, as directed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of insurance guidelines relevant to rehabilitation services.
  • Perform all other duties necessary for the efficient, economic, and quality operation of the department, including maintaining a professional appearance and suggesting improvements.
  • Lead support personnel when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Associate of Science degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
  • State license in the state of practice issued by the Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Valid criminal background check.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
