Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is dedicated to transforming lives and improving futures through Behavioral Health, Public Health, and Community and Social Services. HHSA employs over 600 staff to serve the community.

Community Services Division

The Community Services Division is the primary provider for community programs and assistance within HHSA. Services include Veterans Affairs, Animal Services, Public Housing Authority, HEAP, Weatherization, and Older Adult Programs (including The Club Older Adult Day Services and the Area Agency on Aging). Programs cover Senior Nutrition, Senior Shuttle, Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Senior Legal, FCSP, HICAP, and more.

The Opportunity

The Mealsite Coordinator coordinates the delivery of meal service at a senior center meal site and ensures the necessary clean‑up of food service areas. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Work closely with center staff to coordinate the food service program with other activities and supportive services
  • Ensure food service meets acceptable health and program standards
  • Prepare, clean and set up table areas for meal service; check meal service equipment and operate steam table
  • Coordinate, assign, and train volunteers and part-time staff in meal service methods
  • Act as host/hostess, manage client registration and related recordkeeping, and collect monies as needed
  • Assist in actual food service and may relieve in kitchen for meal preparation and/or cleanup

Ideal Candidate Statement

The HHSA Senior Nutrition program seeks a friendly, hard‑working Mealsite Coordinator with a background in food service and a strong commitment to customer service and helping others. The program provides a high volume of nutritious hot lunches on weekdays to local seniors aged 60+, at seven lunch sites, with volunteers coordinating some home meal deliveries. The Mealsite Coordinator helps ensure daily operations run smoothly, assists in food preparation, packing, and site supervision.

The role may require driving a County vehicle, opening/closing remote lunch sites, serving meals, greeting participants, collecting payments, and cleanup. The ideal candidate is positive, flexible, dependable, detail‑oriented, follows program guidelines, and enjoys serving older adults.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements (as assessed by Human Resources):

  • One year of food service experience or six months of coordinating a service delivery program, preferably in a food service area, including required statistical reporting and recordkeeping

Other Requirements:

  • Must regularly lift food containers weighing up to 30 pounds
