General Job Summary The Director of Operations drives the long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing all manufacturing operations, including production control, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, inventory control, facilities, purchasing, and shipping/receiving. Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems with managers of manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, and sales. Translates customer requirements into manufacturing strategies and processes to achieve cost-effective production.

Develops operations plans, budgets, policies, and procedures, and maintains safety and regulatory compliance. Directs and guides work within the manufacturing operations and participates in personnel decisions. This position operates under minimal supervision. This role may require the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance if needed.

• Establish and execute business unit objectives and goals
• Participate with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives
• Make final decisions on implementation and ensure operational effectiveness
• Effectively cascade functional strategy and contribute to development of policies
• Establish, drive, and track performance metrics to meet company goals
• Work on complex issues where problems are not clearly defined
• Translate business segment strategy into functional plans and guide execution
• Participate in corporate development of methods and evaluation criteria for projects and people
• Drive a culture of integrity, continuous improvement, learning, and knowledge sharing
• Ensure budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements
• Contribute to development of strategies for a function or multiple departments
• Acknowledge the impact of decisions on long-term results
• Interact with senior management, executives, and major customers, including negotiations
• Reconcile multiple stakeholder views to drive business results
• Direct activities of a functional area or multiple departments through lower management
• Lead teams to develop new methods and solve complex issues
• Train, develop, and coach team to achieve business objectives
• Accountable for actions that impact function or multiple department budgets
• Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities.

• Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills
• Strong data analytics; prior MRP experience preferred
• Highly organized, able to multi-task and prioritize; balance long-term and short-term deadlines
• Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements
• Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public while respecting company policies
• Willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for required purposes
• Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the job
• Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to obtain security clearance

• Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience

• Office and/or manufacturing environment
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboard, mouse, tools/equipment)
