THE OPPORTUNITYDeputy Sheriff’s have the opportunity to serve and protect their communities proactively; following the Sheriff's Vision of Total enforcement on crime and criminals, and Total care for victims, witnesses and the community. Extra Help Deputies are typically assigned to the Boating Unit, serving the waterways throughout El Dorado County.
SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:- Respond to a variety of calls for service on the waterways throughout El Dorado County, enforcing criminal and civil laws.
- Provide guidance to the public on safe boating practices.
- Respond to emergencies on the water and provide lifesaving measures to those in distress.
- Work weekends throughout the summer months and possibly emergency call-outs in the off season.
- Must have successfully completed a California POST Basic Law Enforcement Academy and possess a current California POST Certificate.
- Ideal candidates will minimally possess a California POST Basic Certificate, which is obtained after completion of a probationary period in a California POST recognized agency.

RECRUITMENT PROCESSThe Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will screen all applications to identify qualified candidates. Those applicants who meet the minimum requirements for this position will be required to complete a pre-investigative questionnaire and, based on the information provided, may be disqualified according to the County of El Dorado Personnel Rules. After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the recruitment process.
