Position Summary

Reporting to the Food Services Manager and working within the kitchen, cafeteria, and/or patient services, the Pr. Food Service Worker functions as a Lead directing and prioritizing daily workflow for a specific area within Nutrition Services as assigned. The position also serves as a cashier, responsible for accurate handling of cash transactions and maintaining satisfactory customer relationships during assigned shifts. The Pr.

Food Service Worker ensures adequate staffing and problem resolution to meet departmental standards including sanitation and customer service, trains and orients new Food Service Workers, assembles and delivers patient meal trays, prepares special orders, occasionally mixes dietary supplements, and performs other food and service preparation functions.

• Lead and prioritize daily workflow in the kitchen, cafeteria, or patient service area.
• Operate as a cashier, handling cash transactions accurately and maintaining customer relationships.
• Ensure adequate staffing and resolve issues to meet departmental standards for sanitation and customer service.
• Train and orient new Food Service Workers.
• Assemble and deliver patient meal trays and specialize in special orders.
• Occasionally mix dietary supplements and perform special food preparation tasks as directed.

• Minimum 3‑5 years of skilled food preparation or service experience.
• Proficient in balancing currency, coins, checks, and credit card payments.
• Ability to meet bonding requirements for cashiering functions.
• Knowledge of kitchen sanitary control techniques.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Must successfully complete an FBI fingerprinting process to comply with cash handling policies.
• Proof of work authorization required.
