Tenancy Preservation Program Service Coordinator (Bilingual Candidates)

Responsibilities- Communicate with the TPP Director through regular supervision to ensure task completion and sharing of information.
- Provide assessment, referral, and case management to clients to resolve problems of tenancy.
- Offer regular consultation, training, and assistance to local service providers regarding tenancy issues and house court agreements.
- Troubleshoot and facilitate resolution with service providers of any conflicts to ensure implementation of service plans.
- Serve as a neutral liaison to all parties, documenting service plans, contacts, progress toward goals, and outcomes.
- Act as a consultant to the Western Massachusetts Housing Court, being comfortable in a court environment and delivering oral presentations.
- Facilitate engagement in ongoing community services for TPP participants to successfully negotiate community tenancy.
- Develop plans for more appropriate housing when difficulties cannot be resolved (e.g., eviction cannot be prevented).
- Work effectively with people and families representing a diverse cross‑section of Berkshire County’s disadvantaged population, including all ages, complex disabilities, and varied ethnic, racial, and linguistic communities in a culturally responsive manner.
- Maintain paper and electronic files on all active referrals in accordance with agency policies, program policies, and state and federal regulations.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to use during working hours; transport clients as needed.
- Perform regular outreach and home visits to tenants.
- Perform other similar or related duties as responsibilities necessitate or as assigned by the supervisor.
- Well‑developed clinical, assessment, crisis intervention, case management, client advocacy, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with poor and treatment‑resistant or treatment‑unresponsive adults and families in a respectful manner that fosters engagement, hope, and tenancy retention.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with homeless or formerly homeless individuals.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with adults and families with serious psychiatric, cognitive, and behavioral disabilities.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Massachusetts driver’s license and personal vehicle for work‑related tasks and travel.
- Work collaboratively as a member of multidisciplinary and cross‑functional teams.
- Negotiate and resolve differences creatively and flexibly with TPP participants, housing court personnel, housing management staff, landlords, and social service and treatment agencies.
- Function under pressure in a fast‑paced and challenging human‑service environment.
- Be flexible, open, and responsive to ongoing feedback and complex economic, structural, systemic, and social issues.
- Articulate and communicate the TPP mission consistently and enthusiastically to all participants.
Pay Range: $43,000 – $48,000 a year
