Job Summary:

A hospital in Pittsfield, MA is seeking an exceptionally reliable and skilled Pediatric RN for their specialized 3-bed inpatient unit. This is a critically small unit where your presence is vital; the unit operates with a single nurse, supported by respiratory therapists, IV therapists, and the Family Birthplace team. You will care for patients from birth through age 21 in a family-centered environment that emphasizes "rooming in" and adolescent-specific comfort care.

Responsibilities
  • Solo Unit Management: Serve as the primary nurse for a 3-bed unit, managing all aspects of pediatric care with a 1:3 patient ratio.
  • Multidisciplinary Support: Utilize the provided security badge/panic button for immediate backup from the Family Birthplace staff if needed.
  • Floating Flexibility: Must be willing to float to Medical/Surgical or Post-Partum units as census allows.
  • Family-Centered Care: Coordinate "rooming in" for parents and integrate family involvement into the care plan for children and adolescents.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Maintain readiness for acute changes in pediatric status, utilizing PALS and ACLS protocols within a community hospital setting.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    * Minimum of 3 years of current Pediatric experience (Required).
    • Adult Med/Surg experience (Preferred for floating purposes).
    • Meditech Expanse experience (Strongly Preferred).
  • Licensure: Active Massachusetts RN License (Must be uploaded with profile).
  • Certifications: * BLS (AHA)
    • ACLS (AHA)
    • PALS (AHA)
  • Agency Compliance: Per MA state law, the Agency Massachusetts Temporary Nursing Service Agency License must be submitted with the profile.
  • Traveler Rule: Permanent address must be over 50 miles from the facility; local travelers will not be considered.
Assignment Details & Expectations
  • Shift Information: 12-hour nights. Block scheduling will not be considered.
  • Reliability: This unit has zero tolerance for call-outs. Candidates must be highly dependable.
  • Time Off (RTO):
    * Must be requested at the time of upload.
    • Maximum of 3 days will be considered (less is preferred).
  • Transportation: Traveler must have their own reliable vehicle.
  • Orientation: 8 hours of non-billable orientation.
