Succession Planning Consultant (Contract)
Berkshire County Head Start is seeking an experienced Succession Planning Consultant to support our nonprofit organization in strengthening leadership readiness and developing a formal, actionable succession plan aligned with nonprofit governance best practices.
This engagement is proactive and strategic
—focused on long-term organizational sustainability and continuity of mission,
not tied to any immediate personnel change.
- Assessing leadership and succession readiness
- Identifying mission-critical roles
- Engaging Board and executive leadership in thoughtful planning
- Developing emergency and planned succession frameworks
- Delivering practical tools, templates, and a written succession plan
- Succession readiness assessment summary
- Facilitated Board and leadership sessions
- Written succession plan (emergency + planned)
- Final presentation to the Board of Directors
- Experience with nonprofit succession planning or executive transition readiness
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and Board roles
- Skill facilitating sensitive, high-level conversations
- A track record of practical, implementable results
Budget: $6,000–$7,500 (contract)
