Responsibilities
The Senior Nursing Director has operational and functional responsibility for medical and surgical care units, special projects and initiatives for these areas. The senior nursing director assists the Vice President of Nursing/CNO in executive-level management of resources, strategic planning and development of policies and procedures which ensure nursing practice meets professional standards. The senior nursing director is also responsible for providing direction and coordination of the personnel involved in the provision of nursing services within these departments.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team for the implementation of policies, procedures, standards and regulations for the departments to facilitate optimal nursing care. Assumes 24-hour responsibility, authority and accountability for patient care activities and service operations.
- Experience:
Five years full time nursing experience in a supervisory, administrative and consultative managerial capacity. - Education and Training:
Master’s degree in nursing. - License, Certification & Registration: RN - Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
- Other Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of nursing practices.
- Demonstrated abilities to integrate a health care team through positive interpersonal relationships, excellent communication skills and problem solving behaviors.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical and communication abilities as well as excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Demonstrated ability and initiative to manage complex projects and priorities.
- Demonstrated abilities to control expenses, curtail costs while delivering a quality project.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills which facilitate conflict resolution and promotes staff motivation, development and engagement.
- Exhibits good judgment and remains calm in stressful or challenging situations.
