Scrub Nurse

Call Duties

• Call by rotation.
• Holiday call by rotation.
• Occasional weekend shift as needed to cover vacancies.

The primary role of the Registered Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) is to provide direct patient care during surgical procedures. This includes preparing the operating room for surgery, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and available, and assisting the surgeon by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed during the procedure.

The Registered Nurse Circulator role involves managing overall nursing care during surgical procedures. The RN acts as the coordinator of all activities from preoperative preparation to postoperative care, ensuring safe and timely care throughout the perioperative process.

• Minimum of two (2) years of routine scrubbing surgical procedures as a registered nurse or certified surgical technologist.

• ADN required; BSN preferred.

• Registered Nurse (RN) – MA RN License.
• Current CPR certification.
• ACLS certification within six (6) months.
• CNOR certification required within six (6) months of hire or eligibility to sit for the certification exam.

• Demonstrated ongoing education in accordance with state regulations and compliance with unit-specific scope of practice.
• Effective communication in English.
• Functional vision and hearing or use of prosthetics to meet job demands.
• Knowledge and application of surgical aseptic technique.
• Familiarity with basic surgical procedures, instruments, equipment, physiology, microbiology, anatomy, and psychological processes.
