JOB OVERVIEWThe BQ Assistant Technical Director supports the Technical Director in overseeing the technical aspects of the Boyd-Quinson Stage production process. This role involves managing the scene shop, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring that all technical elements are executed smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a driven individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
REQUIREMENTS- Support the Technical Director in overseeing the technical aspects of the Boyd-Quinson Stage production process.
- Manage the scene shop and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient execution of all technical elements.
- Assist in the planning and execution of set designs, manage budgets, and supervise the work of carpenters and other technical staff.
- Oversee load-ins and load-outs to ensure seamless transitions between productions.
- Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Attend rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and production meetings as needed, responding promptly to all artistic and technical notes.
- Train run crew members on the proper handling and operation of sound equipment.
- Other duties as assigned by Production Management.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
- Proficiency in budgeting and cost estimation.
- Ability to interpret set designs and create detailed plans.
- Experience with load-ins and load-outs.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices.
- Must be willing to work with students and volunteers.
- Must have reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to drive a 26’ box truck is preferred.
